Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper
2. Beat butter and powdered sugar until fluffy
3. Mix in flour to form the shortbread crust dough
4. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan
5. Bake crust for 15–20 minutes until lightly golden
6. Beat butter, brown sugar and flour for the filling
7. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until smooth
8. Stir in corn syrup, vinegar and optional raisins or walnuts
9. Pour filling over the partially baked crust
10. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the filling looks set
11. Cool completely before slicing into squares
Notes
For extra gooey bars omit the flour in the filling.
Corn syrup can be replaced with maple syrup if desired.
Allow bars to cool completely before slicing for cleaner squares.
