Hot chocolate cake in a mug ready to serve

How to Make Hot Chocolate Cake in a Mug

A rich, gooey hot chocolate cake in a mug that’s ready in just one minute. Made with cocoa mix, milk, and marshmallows for the ultimate quick dessert.

  • Total Time: 6 minutes
  • Yield: 1 mug cake

Ingredients

Scale

1 packet hot cocoa/hot chocolate mix (¼ cup)

¼ cup all-purpose flour

¼ cup milk

2 Tbsp vegetable oil

2 Tbsp chocolate chips

Small handful mini marshmallows

½ tsp baking powder (optional)

¼ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. In a microwave-safe mug, mix hot chocolate mix and flour.

2. Add milk, oil, and vanilla extract; stir until smooth.

3. Fold in chocolate chips and top with marshmallows.

4. Microwave for 60 seconds, or until the top is set but the center remains soft.

5. Cool for 1–2 minutes, then top with whipped cream or chocolate syrup.

Notes

Use a 12 oz microwave-safe mug to prevent overflow.

If you want a fluffier cake, add baking powder.

Avoid overcooking; the cake should be slightly gooey in the center.
