12 tablespoons unsalted butter1 1/4 cup brown sugar6 tablespoons maple syrup1 large egg1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 teaspoon maple extract2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking soda1/4 teaspoon salt1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts3 tablespoons unsalted butter1/3 cup maple syrup1 to 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar1 teaspoon vanilla1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Beat butter and brown sugar until creamy.

2. Mix in maple syrup, egg, vanilla extract, and maple extract.

3. Add flour, baking soda, and salt and mix until dough forms.

4. Stir in chopped pecans or walnuts.

5. Cover dough and refrigerate for four hours or overnight.

6. Preheat oven to 350°F and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.

7. Roll dough into balls and place two inches apart on baking sheets.

8. Bake for eleven to thirteen minutes until tops look set.

9. Melt butter and maple syrup in a saucepan.

10. Whisk in powdered sugar to form glaze.

11. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies.

Notes

Use real maple syrup for best flavor.

Maple extract is optional but strengthens maple taste.
