Ingredients
¼ cup (31 g) all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon apple pie spice
½ teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
Pinch of salt
1½ tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon water
Salted caramel sauce (for topping)
Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional)
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, apple pie spice, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
Make a well in the center and add applesauce, milk, oil, and water.
Whisk until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
Pour batter into a 14-ounce microwave-safe mug, leaving space for it to rise.
Place a paper towel in the microwave and set the mug on top.
Microwave on high for 1 minute and 50 seconds (adjust time based on microwave wattage).
Carefully remove from microwave and rest for 30 seconds.
Top with warm salted caramel sauce and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
Use a 14-ounce mug or larger to prevent overflow.
